Dream and Play in your Utopian Garden

Find yourself at the intersection of art, science, and nature: participants will co-create in a fully-immersive, interactive, story-based adventure within an enormous digital projection onto massive, 300-degree wrap-around screens.

Utopian Garden will be hosted by Tacoma Arts Live at the Tacoma Armory throughout the summer before travelling on to the rest of the world

Utopian Garden is first and foremost about having fun: edutainment is founded on the idea that we learn better when we enjoy ourselves. All ages are invited to play and learn together in this fully immersive experience told across 45 minutes in a 3-part, gamified storyline.

Visitors actively build their journey through the Utopian Garden alongside other participants, interacting with dynamic projections in beautiful, gamified visual scenes while a bespoke soundtrack and responsive sound design ensure every sense is captivated. SCIENCE, NATURE & ART

Play through 3 Chapters of

SCIENCE

The SCIENCE chapter capitalizes on scientific disciplines, using objects based on mathematical formula. These ‘supershapes’ are themselves developed with natural principles in mind, and can be altered by the visitor according to scientific parameters. The visitors can create and manipulate their own unique shapes, and ultimately use their customised creations to build their Utopian Garden.

The NATURE chapter focusses on four plants, each of which possesses a special ability that visitors can utilize throughout the gamified exhibit. Each is dedicated to one of four principles: Medicine, Food, Material and Energy. The visitor will be able to plant and harvest seeds over the duration of the game, extracting and capitalizing on their special properties to fill the canvas with life and new resources. Just like in the real world, plants need water to grow within the Utopian Garden. Every seed that is hovering in the space becomes active, growing and propagating new plants when overlayed with a nurturing water drop.

NATURE

The ART chapter uses AI generated visuals to inspire visitors to embrace and explore a subversion of perspective, to use the tools and the expressions that have been given to each of us to experiment and create something better. ART is a playful chapter: the act of creation is steeped in joy and the hopeful possibilities of how we can shape our own future. The chapter uses technology, light, and color to illustrate the transformation of basic geometries into something utterly new and previously unimaginable.

ART

After three beautiful chapters filled with games, breathtaking visuals, and learning opportunities, the Utopian Garden is unveiled. Your garden– co-created alongside the other participants– reveals itself as the direct result of your experience and the culmination of your utopian journey. Utopian Garden proposes a simple idea: once we understand how to use the tools and resources at our disposal, Utopia is a place we must all create together– and the act of that co-creation is a joyful adventure.
